At the New York Bariatric Group, the weight loss surgeons offer numerous types of bariatric surgery, including single-incision adjustable gastric banding (SILS), laparoscopic gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding with the Lap-Band or Realize Band, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, revision bariatric surgery and several other procedures. They typically employ the laparoscopic surgical approach when medically appropriate. During laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon creates several miniscule incisions in the abdominal area, inserting an instrument with a camera on the end of it through one of these incisions. The camera transmits a video feed onto a screen located in the operating room. This allows the weight loss surgeon to monitor the surgical process closely. The main advantage of laparoscopic surgery is that it is less invasive than traditional surgical methods; it causes less trauma to the body's tissues, leading to a quicker, easier recovery following surgery.

The FDA just approved the ReShape™ gastric balloon and the Orbera™ gastric balloon for use in the US, and they are now offered by New York Bariatric Group's Dr. Shawn Garber — is one of the first surgeons in the United States trained in these unique programs. These NON-SURGICAL procedures use what is referred to as a gastric balloon. By following the ReShape™ or Orbera™ Managed Weight Loss Programs, one can experience a weight loss of up 70lbs*. Please visit our sister site at bellyballoon.com for more information, or visit our office and consult with bariatric pioneer Shawn Garber, MD to see the unique "belly balloon", and to learn if one of these programs is right for you.

Now I'm running, swimming and working out every day, and it's all because of Dr. Garber. I'm very pleased, and I would recommend it to anyone. Just go to the free seminar, and you're on your way!" —Dean

If you are overweight and you want some sincere help, come to the seminar, I promise you will be on the road to recovery." —Kathy

"I would do it all over again if I had to! My ankles, knees and back would give out 10 minutes into any social function that I attended. I felt like I was 65. Now I feel and act like I'm in my 20's! I had done every diet, attended weight loss camp, and saw many specialists. I researched all of the bariatric surgeons in New York. Once I decided to have the surgery, Dr. Spencer Holover gave me the rest of my life back. Walking by mirrors is pleasant again. The aftercare at the New York Bariatric Group is phenomenal.
