Dr. Alberto Aceves is a caring, accomplished surgeon who has performed more than 4,000 laparoscopic weight loss surgeries, including 1,200 gastric sleeve surgeries, for patients from Mexico and the United States. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS); a Fellow of the American College of Surgeon (FACS) and past President of the Mexican Society for Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Aceves understands the devastating effects obesity can have on one's life, and he is dedicated to helping his patients achieve healthy, permanent weight loss. He has performed weight loss procedures on patients from across the globe, including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, China and Palau, to list a few.

In order to optimize surgical results, Dr. Aceves works closely with each patient to establish a highly customized, comprehensive treatment plan that includes surgery, recovery, exercise and behavioral therapy. Dr. Aceves specializes in performing Lap-Band, laparoscopic RNY gastric bypass and gastric sleeve procedures for patients from all over the US and Canada. All of these surgeries can be performed laparoscopically (with a small camera inserted inside the abdominal area). This reduces the size of the patient's incisions, which in turn greatly reduces scarring and recovery time. Dr. Aceves' skill and experience also allow him to help patients who require colon, gallbladder, hernia or spleen surgery. In addition, Dr. Aceves offers revision weight loss surgery procedures for patients who have regained weight after a primary surgery. In fact, he has helped many former weight loss surgery patients regain control of their weight.

More About Dr. Aceves

Alberto Aceves, MD, earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine. Dr. Aceves completed his general surgery training at the Mexicali General Hospital, and he has received additional training in laparoscopic surgery in the United States. He has also completed advanced laparoscopic training provided by the Mexican Endoscopic Surgery Association. Dr. Aceves maintains active memberships with the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery, Mexican Society of Obesity Surgery and Mexican Association of General Surgery. He is a former President of the General Surgeons College of Mexicali and a former Secretary of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity.
