Dr. Champion received a medical degree from the University of Alabama, and he completed his general surgery training at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. In addition, Dr. Champion received training in thoracic surgery at the University of West Virginia. He is a nationally recognized surgeon and researcher with numerous published articles and textbook chapters. Dr. Champion has developed several advanced videoscopic surgical techniques, and he actively participates in bariatric surgery clinical trials. Dr. Champion is a clinical professor of surgery at Mercer University and a former Director of Endosurgical Education at the Emory University School of Medicine.
