Neil Floch, MD, FACS, and Craig Floch, MD, FACS, are board-certified surgeons who have been serving Connecticut and Westchester County weight loss surgery patients for decades with offices in Norwalk, Fairfield, Stamford, Waterbury and Groton. As the first fellowship trained Laparoscopic Surgeon in Fairfield County, Dr. Neil Floch is an expert in bariatrics who acquired his knowledge at the renowned Mayo Clinic under the mentorship of Dr. Ronald A. Hinder, a pioneer in weight loss surgery. He is a respected lecturer and has authored more than 20 articles and two book chapters on bariatric surgery topics. In addition, Dr. Floch is the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Norwalk Hospital, and was instrumental in designing and instituting the first two advanced minimally invasive operating rooms in Fairfield County. Dr. Craig Floch is the President of Fairfield County Bariatrics and a distinguished Yale University/Norwalk Hospital Surgical P.A. instructor. In recognition of his outstanding surgical skills and commitment to advancing his students' surgical proficiency, he was honored with the Malcolm S. Beinfield Award for Teaching Excellence.

Surgical Procedures

Drs. Neil and Craig Floch, along with the surgical team of Fairfield County Bariatrics have performed more than 2,500 weight loss procedures and offer the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) and Laparoscopic Banding including the Realize™ Band and the Lap-Band®. These advanced weight loss surgery techniques allow the surgeons to help each patient undergo healthy weight loss while minimizing postoperative discomfort. Both procedures involve five to seven small incisions and are performed using state-of-the-art surgical equipment, namely a tiny camera known as a laparoscope. This approach reduces the need for the extensive incisions associated with traditional weight loss surgery. In addition, the surgeons of Fairfield County Bariatrics specialize in bariatric revisional operations for patients who have either failed to lose weight following initial surgery or run into problems.

A Comprehensive Program

The skilled surgeons of Fairfield County Bariatrics strongly believe that postoperative nutritional and psychological support are essential elements to the success of bariatric surgery and, therefore, offer a comprehensive weight loss program, which addresses all aspects of the patient’s life. All Fairfield County Bariatrics weight loss surgery patients are provided with weekly support groups and preoperative and postoperative nutritional assistance by a registered dietician specializing in helping gastric bypass and Lap-Band patients achieve desired weight loss results and optimal health. In addition, the Fairfield County Bariatrics surgeons are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so patients can be assured that one of these specialists is always available to them.
