Patrick Yau, MD, FRCS(C), and Jamie Cyriac, MD, FRCS(C), FACS, are fellowship-trained, board-certified surgeons who specialize in laparoscopic weight loss surgery in Toronto. Together, Drs. Yau and Cyriac have more than a decade of experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery and have performed more than 3,500 successful Lap-Band procedures. Drs. Yau and Cyriac specialize in adjustable gastric banding procedures, including Lap-Band surgery. All procedures are performed at Slimband's state-of-the-art surgical facility located at the Prince Arthur Medical Clinic. Gastric banding is a bariatric technique that involves the implantation of a silicone belt around the top of the stomach in order to reduce food consumption and improve the patient's feeling of satiation. More About the Surgeons of Slimband

Patrick Yau, MD, FRCS(C), received extensive training in minimally invasive surgery and gastrointestinal surgery at McMaster University and the University of Toronto. He completed his fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Centre for Endoscopic Surgery in South Australia. In addition to serving as Medical Director at Slimband, Dr. Yau serves as an instructor of gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery for doctors completing their residency in Toronto. Additionally, he serves as a staff surgeon at the Scarborough Hospital – Grace Division. He also contributes to a number of peer-reviewed medical journals on a variety of topics, including gastric banding surgery.

Dr. Yau holds certifications in several gastric banding techniques and technologies, including Midband, Johnson & Johnson Swedish Band, Allergan Lap-Band, and the Slimband.

Dr. Yau is recognized by his peers for his expertise in the field of bariatric surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. He is also a member of the Ontario Medical Association, the Ontario Association of General Surgeons, the Canadian Association of General Surgeons, the Canadian Association of Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Jamie Cyriac, MD, FRCS(C), FACS, received his training in general and surgical medicine at the University of West Ontario, as well as the University of Toronto, where he also completed a fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Cyriac was formerly a staff surgeon of general and laparoscopic surgery at Toronto East General Hospital and currently serves as a lecturer for his alma mater, the University of Toronto. He has been published in several peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Cyriac is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of several medical associations, including the Canadian Medical Association, the Ontario Medical Association, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Canadian Association of General Surgeons.
