Serving patients seeking Lap Band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revision bariatric surgery in Birmingham, Ypsilanti, Rochester Hills, Oakland County, Troy and other suburbs of Detroit

Jamokay P. Taylor, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a “Center of Excellence Certified Bariatric Surgeon” with more than 10 years of experience providing comprehensive medical and surgical weight loss care to patients suffering from obesity. Dr. Taylor serves as the medical director of the state-of-the-art Warrenton Weight Loss Institute, a member of nationally recognized health care organization Barix Clinics, whose surgeons have performed more than 400,000 bariatric procedures to date. Dr. Taylor has carefully assembled an experienced medical team whose mission is to provide each weight loss surgery patient with safe, high-quality, compassionate medical care in a supportive and encouraging environment. He and his team are committed to guiding each bariatric surgery patient to better health and improved quality of life.

Dr. Taylor and his team offer a wide range of weight loss procedures, including gastric sleeve, adjustable gastric banding with Lap Band, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and revision bariatric surgery. Each procedure is performed to restrict food intake, thereby leading to safe and life-changing weight loss. Whenever possible, Dr. Taylor performs weight loss surgery using advanced laparoscopic techniques, which use a tiny camera and require smaller incisions. When compared to traditional open weight loss surgery, the laparoscopic approach is less invasive. Laparoscopic weight loss surgery has many advantages, including less tissue trauma, reduced postoperative scarring and shorter recovery.

Dr. Taylor performs weight loss surgery at Forest Health Medical Center, a Barix Clinical hospital that has been designated a “Center of Excellence” by the Surgical Review Corporation. His dedicated team of weight loss practitioners is comprised of registered dietitians, nurses, patient advocates, psychologists, internists and plastic surgeons for post-bariatric body contouring. Together, Dr. Taylor and his team employ a comprehensive approach to each patient’s individually tailored treatment plan and long-term weight loss goals.

To schedule a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Taylor and learn more about your weight loss surgery options, please contact Warrenton Weight Loss Institute at 734-547-4900.

What Do Patients Say About Dr. Taylor?

“Before surgery I was 298 lbs. I’m only 5’4″ so that was a lot of weight to carry around.  I was extremely inactive. I didn’t have the energy or motivation to do anything. I was living on the sidelines. I had asthma, my back and knees hurt, my blood pressure was steadily going up and I was being treated for depression. My 7-year-old son was missing out because I just couldn’t get around to do anything with him. My relationship with my husband was in turmoil. He was unhappy with the way I looked and so was I. I wanted to be the fun active mom and wife my family needed me to be…

The care I received in and out of the hospital was exceptional. During my stay, the nurses were caring, patient and willing to help, even with the most embarrassing of issues. I loved them for that. Dr. Taylor has been encouraging with the results of my weight loss…

Life after surgery is wonderful!!!  I have lost 151 pounds so far. I can’t believe how much better I feel. My blood pressure is down, my knees don’t hurt, my back doesn’t hurt, and I’m no longer in need of my asthma or depression medications…I think this was the best decision I have ever made, not only for myself but also for my family. I feel like a new woman!”

“Hello, my name is Jessie. I’m 26 years old and spent the majority of my life overweight and unhappy with myself. I was a borderline diabetic with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. When I was 24 I got pregnant with my daughter Lillian. I wasn’t supposed to be able to have children and at 305lbs I wasn’t at a safe weight to carry her. She was born 14 weeks premature because of my PCOS and my weight… That was my turning point. My weight could have caused us to lose our little blessing and that almost killed me. I started looking into the gastric bypass process right away. I did a lot of research and all of my hard work led me to the same place – Warrenton Weight Loss Institute…

Over the last 18 months I have managed to lose all of my excess weight I was hoping to lose and then some. Thanks to the very helpful and knowledgeable staff at Warrenton Weight Loss Institute, I was able to surpass my weight loss goals. In 1 year I lost 150lbs! I feel great, I look amazing, and it was all worth it.

A special thank you to my doctor, Dr. J. Taylor, from the bottom of my heart…you were always there to help me stay on my weight loss path and give me advice to make this a fun and beneficial journey. Thank you again Dr. Taylor, you’ve not only helped me lose a total of 170lbs in 18 months but you’ve also changed my life for the better and I will never forget you!”

—Jessie
