Nicole Basa, M.D., F.A.C.S, and Alan Abando, M.D., F.A.C.S., are board-certified surgeons who comprise the surgical team of Cedar Park Surgeons, a leading-edge bariatric surgery practice providing patients with comprehensive weight loss treatment programs. Dr. Basa is a fellowship-trained surgeon who is known for her dedication to outstanding patient care and excellent surgical skills. She has served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Basa currently serves as Medical Director for Bariatric Surgery at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, where she has created a comprehensive weight loss surgery program to model that of the Center of Excellence program available at UCLA. She has authored several scientific papers on a range of bariatric surgery topics. Dr. Abando is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has served as a volunteer faculty member for Huntington Memorial Hospital's residency program, which is affiliated with the University of Southern California (USC). While there, Dr. Abando practiced with a surgical group who focused on bariatric and minimally invasive surgeries.

Drs. Abando and Basa use their excellent surgical skills and experience to offer their bariatric surgery Cedar Park patients a range of advanced weight loss procedures, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional bariatric surgery. For all surgical procedures, Drs. Abando and Basa use the advanced laparoscopic technique, which involves small incisions and the use of a small camera (laparoscope). This technique is less invasive than traditional weight loss surgery methods.
Drs. Abando and Basa of Cedar Park Surgeons strive to help each patient "get their life back on track, feel better and live healthier." Therefore, they offer an individually tailored, comprehensive weight loss program that extends beyond the operating room. Alan Abando, MD, FACS, completed his undergraduate education at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. He earned his medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honors at Rush Medical College in Chicago. Dr. Abando completed his general surgery residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital. In recognition of his outstanding performance, he was asked to join a group of his mentors working on less invasive bariatric surgery techniques. Dr. Abando worked at Huntington Memorial Hospital for two more years, where he was also a volunteer faculty member. He is affiliated with several associations, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association and the Williamson County Medical Society.
Nicole Basa, MD, FACS, received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. She completed her general surgery residency at USC and was voted Chief Resident of the year by the surgical faculty. Dr. Basa continued her training with a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery and bariatrics at UCLA, where she also served as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Surgery. She has participated in several research studies at UCLA's Digestive Disease Research Center and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Basa is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and she is affiliated with many professional organizations, including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association and the Williamson County Medical Society.
