David Kim, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon who completed advanced fellowship training in peripheral vascular surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Dr. Kim is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as a Proctor for Lap Band – a position that requires him to teach the Lap Band surgery technique to other weight loss surgeons. As a testament to his outstanding surgical skills, he has been named a "Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence" by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, "Physician of the Year" by North Hills Hospital, and one of "America's Top Doctors" by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. In addition, he has appeared in Fort Worth magazine's list of "Top Docs."

Dr. Kim was one of the first bariatric surgeons to perform laparoscopic gastric bypass in the Fort Worth area. This minimally invasive procedure restricts the size of the stomach to help patients feel full with smaller quantities of food. As a Proctor for Lap Band, he holds advanced expertise in Lap Band surgery. In addition, Dr. Kim offers laparoscopic gastric sleeve resection – the latest surgical technique in weight loss surgery – which combines the advantages of the gastric bypass and Lap Band procedures. Patients who have undergone weight loss surgery and are dissatisfied with their results often seek out the expertise of Dr. Kim to undergo revision bariatric surgery, a procedure that can restore confidence and help patients lead healthier, happier lives.

Dr. David Kim is also one of the first surgeons in the nation to be trained in restorative obesity surgery (ROSE), an "incision-less" surgery that restores a dilated gastric bypass pouch back to its original size. ROSE is used to treat patients who are regaining weight after gastric bypass and do not wish to undergo conventional operating techniques to restore their pouch. During the ROSE procedure, Dr. Kim tightens the stretched stomach pouch using endoscopic techniques that significantly reduce the recovery time and minimize pain.

Dr. Kim's office has been named a "Center of Excellence" by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery – a distinction that recognizes the practice's comprehensive care and outstanding results. Following weight loss surgery, Dr. Kim encourages his patients to participate in his facility's "Live Life Again" program, which provides diet and exercise tips, emotional support and lifelong follow-up appointments.

Dr. Kim and his Team

"I have experienced incredible changes in my life after losing over 120 lbs with weight loss surgery. I no longer have high blood pressure. I also no longer have sleep apnea or have to use a CPAP machine. I feel wonderful and can do so much more than before. I take a yoga class, walk, swim, and have a new passion – golf! I began taking lessons and have found skills and abilities I never knew I possessed! I'm having a blast! I'm looking forward to going to a water park for the first time ever and having adventures I never thought possible. I am so happy that I took this life changing step and highly recommend Dr. Kim." —Erlinda

"This surgery will give you your life back. It is a total life-changing surgery and I feel like I owe Dr. Kim and his staff my life since they restored mine to me. My weight ballooned up to 273 lbs before my surgery. I have successfully lost and maintained a 140 lb weight loss. This is the wisest and best decision that I have ever made for myself and I am so very proud of all my accomplishments. This is the most amazing journey that anyone could ever take and Dr. Kim and his staff will all be there to hold your hand and lead you down the road to your success." —Vivian

"There are no words to express the amount of change that weight loss surgery has brought to my life. I am a 54-year-old female. Yes, the surgery worked even at my age. There were so many things I was unable to do before the surgery that I blamed on age. It wasn't my age at all, it was the weight. My life has completely changed. I am 30 again! The day of my surgery, February 5, 2007, I weighed 299 pounds. Today, May 14, 2008, I weigh 138 and wear a size 6. I feel so good about myself now and I am now engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. The surgery saved my life!" —Kathy
