The treatment philosophy of Drs. Ludwig and Simchuk is based on the belief that bariatric surgery is only the first step of their patients' journey to healthier, happier lives. They are committed to providing comprehensive care and long-term support to help their patients achieve lasting success. Drs. Ludwig and Simchuk personally meet with their patients to learn about their goals and needs, perform thorough evaluations and recommend the most appropriate procedures. In addition, patients can attend specialized pre- and post-surgery classes, where registered nurses explain bariatric surgery in great detail and answer any questions patients might have. Drs. Ludwig and Simchuk also provide patients with an extensive support network, consisting of dieticians, fitness specialists, psychologists and a compassionate support group.
North Valley Surgical Associates has been recognized as a "Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery" by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. This designation is awarded to weight loss centers with proven records of surgical achievement, exceptional service and successful management of postoperative complications. Drs. Ludwig and Simchuk specialize in performing Lap-Band and the more comprehensive Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures. Both surgeries can be performed laparoscopically (by placing a small camera inside the abdomen). This approach reduces the size of the incisions, which in turn greatly reduces pain, recovery time and the risk of complications. After the surgery, Drs. Ludwig and Simchuk continue to meet with their patients regularly to monitor their weight loss and promptly address any concerns they might have. This personalized, attentive approach helps the doctors achieve results that often surpass their patients' expectations.

"The doctors are kind, compassionate, patient and highly skilled. The office staff is very friendly and helpful to work with. I felt like I knew exactly what to expect during my hospitalization due to the thorough pre-op preparation. The nurses from the office actually came to say hello while I was in pre-op, and afterwards, too, on a daily basis. I thought they went above and beyond, and I appreciated the personal touch." Beth D.

Dr. Ludwig is a very accomplished surgeon and very caring; he looks out for your well-being. I felt very comfortable before, during and after my surgery." Edward J.
"Dr. Ludwig is passionate about his craft. He covered in detail the surgery and the risks, and I was impressed with the amount of information he covered. He didn't make me feel rushed or seem like he had to hurry me along to get to another waiting patient. The office staff is superior to any other staff I have ever met. They are very helpful, caring, warm and sincere." Lauren C.
