Christopher Finnell, MD, is a highly skilled bariatric surgeon on the staff of United Regional in Wichita Falls, Texas. United Regional's Bariatric Surgery Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery combined accreditation programs, the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
Dr. Christopher Finnell of United Regional Solutions offers Lap Band adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery and lap sleeve gastrectomy. Lap Band surgery is a highly individualized weight loss treatment involving the use of a silicone band that is surgically placed around the stomach and can be adjusted by adding or removing saline. Sleeve gastrectomy is a type of weight loss surgery during which a portion of the stomach is removed. The procedure is an excellent treatment option for individuals who are at least 100 pounds over their normal weight and have not responded to diet and exercise regimens. The "sleeve" refers to the new shape of the stomach following surgery. Dr. Finnell performs all bariatric procedures using the laparoscopic technique, which involves four to six small incisions and the use of a small camera (laparoscope) that provides a magnified view of the patient's organs on a television monitor. When compared to open weight loss surgery, the laparoscopic approach leads to lower operative risks, reduced postoperative discomfort and shortened recovery time.
The United Regional Solutions weight loss program is an individually tailored treatment that includes monthly support group meetings and a registered nurse liaison to assist in preoperative education and preparations as well as postoperative care and lifestyle change challenges.

"For the first time in
my life, I am able to
enjoy life to its fullest."
"The Lap Band has given me a life I never knew possible. I have been obese my entire life. As a child, I weighed 200 pounds by 6th grade. Every event in life revolved around food. As a nurse, I knew obesity was linked to so many diseases, so I would diet, lose 40-50 pounds, and then gain it back again. Both of my parents have passed away due to diseases linked to obesity. I began my preoperative diet at 301 pounds. It has been eleven months since my procedure, and I have lost 123 pounds. The bariatric support group has provided me with guidance, and as a result, my journey has been very smooth. My recovery was remarkably quick. I had my procedure on a Wednesday and was back to work on Monday feeling great! I would recommend this process to anyone who has struggled with their weight. I am so thankful that I have been given this gift and, for the first time in my life, am able to enjoy life to its fullest. I have had so many firsts in my life since the procedure. I never thought I would be someone who enjoyed exercising. Life is great!" Lisa
