Ryan Heider, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in laparoscopic bariatric surgery for patients in Charlotte and the surrounding area. He is certified as a Lap-Band Total Care Champion by Allergan Health, the company that produces the Lap-Band system. Dr. Heider enjoys getting to know his patients personally and feels privileged to witness their transformation as they experience the life-changing effects of weight loss surgery.
Dr. Heider offers an array of bariatric surgery procedures, including sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and Lap-Band surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in the North Carolina to perform a single-incision, “scarless” sleeve gastrectomy and remains one of the few surgeons in the nation trained to both perform and train other doctors in this advanced, minimally invasive procedure.

Ryan Heider, MD, received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill. He is the author of numerous medical research publications on laparoscopic surgery and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Board of Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
